India’s space-tech scene just got a major power-up.

Hyderabad-based EON Space Labs, a rising deeptech startup specializing in AI-driven electro-optical and infrared imaging systems, has secured $1.2 million (₹10.5 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round — and it’s ready to make high-resolution space imaging lighter, cheaper, and smarter.

The round was led by MGF Kavachh, with additional support from HHV Advanced Technologies, both betting big on EON’s game-changing Earth Observation tech.

What Makes EON So Exciting?

Founded in 2022 and incubated at IIT Madras, EON Space Labs is reimagining the future of satellite and drone imaging. Its claim to fame? Designing miniaturized, high-res imaging payloads that are:

  • 3X lighter
  • Way more compact
  • Mil-spec certified
  • And powered by AI

This means lower launch costs, faster deployments, and more agile missions — a killer combo for governments, defense forces, private aerospace players, and even climate researchers.

Meet the Tech That’s Turning Heads

EON’s flagship innovations include:

  • MIRA Space Telescope: Currently undergoing validation, this next-gen EO system is expected to be a game-changer for space-based imaging.
  • LUMIRA EO/IR Platform: Already certified to military standards, this Earth Observation payload is small, smart, and rugged — perfect for satellites, drones, and ground stations.

Both systems are part of EON’s vertically integrated model — which means it designs, prototypes, and manufactures in-house, allowing for unmatched precision, quality control, and speed.

“Our payloads are compact enough to reduce costs but powerful enough to match — or exceed — traditional imaging systems,” said co-founder Sanjay Kumar.

What Will the New Funding Fuel?

With this fresh capital, EON plans to:

  • Ramp up manufacturing of its EO/IR payloads
  • Expand its core engineering team
  • Launch four new variants of the LUMIRA platform
  • Accelerate go-to-market and global expansion efforts

The company already has commercial orders in the pipeline and is actively building international partnerships following successful proof-of-concept demonstrations.

In short — they’re not just building the tech. They’re ready to ship.

Why This Matters: India’s Space-Tech Boom Is Just Getting Started

EON’s rapid rise reflects a broader shift in India’s startup ecosystem, where deeptech and space innovation are moving from labs to launchpads. With ISRO’s success and a surge of private-sector activity, India is emerging as a global hub for space entrepreneurship.

And EON? It’s one of the startups leading that charge — with compact space telescopes, military-grade imaging systems, and a bold vision for the future of Earth Observation.

Final Word: Eyes on the Sky, Feet on the Ground

EON Space Labs isn’t just building satellites or cameras. It’s building an entirely new category of Earth Observation tech — lighter, smarter, and built for real-world applications.

From defense and disaster management to climate monitoring and space research, this young startup is proving that big impact doesn’t need big hardware.

And with $1.2 million now fueling its next phase, don’t be surprised if the next satellite image you see came from an Indian-built telescope small enough to fit in a shoebox.
