In a remarkable step towards fostering entrepreneurship among the youth, Punjab’s Education Department has launched the “Business Blaster Young Entrepreneur” scheme, selecting 52,050 Class 12 students from 1,920 schools across the state. This initiative, which began in 2022, aims to cultivate entrepreneurial skills and offer students hands-on experience in business development.

Each of the chosen students will receive seed money of ₹2,000 to bring their business ideas to life. The most promising proposals will even catch the attention of industrial houses looking for innovative ideas. Education Minister Harjot Bains announced that 7,500 student teams were shortlisted based on a rigorous selection process.

To fund this initiative, a total of ₹10.40 crore is being allocated, with ₹9.38 crore already disbursed to 46,910 students. The remaining funds are currently being processed to ensure all selected participants receive their support.

This experiential learning program started as a pilot in the 2022-2023 academic year, initially involving 11,041 students from 32 government senior secondary schools across 9 districts. During its first phase, 3,032 students received ₹60.64 lakh in seed funding.

Now, the program has expanded significantly, reaching 1,920 government senior secondary schools and engaging 1,38,676 Class 12 students throughout all 23 districts. Out of this large pool, 52,050 students have been identified to receive the seed funding, marking a substantial growth in the initiative’s reach and impact.

The “Business Blaster Young Entrepreneur” scheme is not just about funding; it’s about igniting the entrepreneurial spirit in Punjab’s youth and equipping them with the skills and experiences they need to succeed in the future.
