India’s Men’s Hockey Team Defeats Australia for First Time in 52 Years, Secures Second Place in Group B

In a historic victory at the Paris 2024 Olympics, India’s men’s hockey team achieved a landmark win by defeating Australia 3-2, marking their first triumph over the Aussies in 52 years. Despite a missed opportunity by Abhishek in the final quarter, India maintained their lead and secured the crucial three points. This victory secures India’s place in the quarterfinals and marks the first time they have beaten Australia on turf in men’s hockey.

India’s Group B campaign saw them secure three wins, including this landmark victory, a loss to defending champions Belgium, and a draw against Argentina. They will now face their quarterfinal clash on August 4, with Belgium topping Group B irrespective of their final result against Argentina.
