Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has expanded its collaboration with Rolls-Royce to advance sustainable aviation through hydrogen technology research. The partnership aims to address critical challenges in enabling hydrogen as a zero-carbon fuel for aviation, focusing on fuel combustion, delivery, and integration with engines.

Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the collaboration underscores TCS’s commitment to driving sustainable transformation across industries. Alan Newby, Director of Research and Technology at Rolls-Royce, expressed optimism about TCS’s engineering expertise contributing significantly to their technology goals, enhancing capabilities in the aviation sector’s energy transition.

The partnership builds on a longstanding relationship between Rolls-Royce and the Tata Group, encompassing areas such as engine development and robust supply chain support. Since 2010, TCS has supported Rolls-Royce in various capacities, including design, manufacturing engineering, control systems, software, after-market services, and IT services, spanning major civil and business aviation programs.

Anupam Singhal, President of Manufacturing at TCS, highlighted the alliance as a powerful force in pursuing sustainable aviation solutions, aligned with Rolls-Royce’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Leveraging deep domain knowledge in aircraft manufacturing, TCS will assist Rolls-Royce in system design, component design, supply chain management, and program support to ensure safe operation and integration of hydrogen fuel systems with engines.
