Luma AI Lands $900 Million in Massive Funding Round

AI startup Luma AI, which is developing multimodal artificial general intelligence (AGI), has raised an astonishing $900 million in a funding round led by Saudi Arabia-based HUMAIN.

The investment is set to supercharge Luma AI’s mission to create systems capable of learning from a quadrillion tokens of information — the equivalent of humanity’s entire digital memory across video, images, audio, and language.

Explosive Growth and Ambitious Vision

CEO and co-founder Amit Jain described HUMAIN as “the perfect partner for this next stage in Luma AI’s explosive trajectory.” He added:
“To create AI that can help humanity in the physical world and expand our understanding of the universe, we need systems that can process the collective knowledge of humanity. HUMAIN’s frontier compute infrastructure is critical to achieving our mission.”

The startup is aiming not just to build smarter AI, but AI that interacts meaningfully with the physical world and augments human understanding on a massive scale.

Why HUMAIN Invested

HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin explained the firm’s approach:
“This investment underscores an important point in HUMAIN’s philosophy: we are not only funding the next wave of AI, we’re building the full value chain that makes it possible.”

The partnership goes beyond funding — it includes customized model development, go-to-market strategies, and deployment of frontier capabilities, creating an end-to-end ecosystem for Luma AI’s multimodal technology.

Multimodal AGI: What It Means

Unlike conventional AI that focuses on a single type of input, multimodal AI can learn from and integrate multiple forms of data simultaneously — video, images, audio, and text. This enables systems to:

  • Understand context like humans
  • Make connections across different types of information
  • Perform complex reasoning in real-world environments

Luma AI’s approach aims to replicate a broader human-like understanding, bringing AGI closer to reality.

Building the Future with Frontier Compute

A key aspect of this partnership is access to HUMAIN’s cutting-edge compute infrastructure, which allows Luma AI to process enormous amounts of data at unprecedented speed.

By leveraging these resources, Luma AI can accelerate research and scale its systems efficiently, creating AI models that learn faster, understand more deeply, and operate more autonomously than ever before.

The Stakes: Humanity and the Universe

Jain emphasized the larger goal: AI that helps humanity in the physical world and expands our understanding of the universe. Luma AI is positioning itself not just as a tech company, but as a force for transformative change in science, industry, and everyday life.

The company’s vision combines ambition, scale, and cutting-edge technology, signaling that the next wave of AI could be dramatically different from what we see today.

What This Means for the AI Ecosystem

This massive $900 million funding round is a signal to the tech world: multimodal AGI is no longer a distant dream — it’s a top investment priority. The partnership between Luma AI and HUMAIN could accelerate breakthroughs in:

  • Autonomous robotics
  • Human-computer interaction
  • Scientific discovery
  • Advanced multimodal AI applications

Investors and tech enthusiasts alike are watching closely as Luma AI works to turn humanity’s digital memory into actionable intelligence.

A Bold Step Toward the Future

With HUMAIN’s support and frontier compute power, Luma AI is pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve, from the digital realm to the physical world.

This is not just funding; it’s a strategic bet on the future of intelligence itself. If Luma AI succeeds, we could be looking at a new era of AI that learns, understands, and acts across all modalities — reshaping humanity’s relationship with technology.

The question now is: how quickly will Luma AI turn this vision into reality, and how will it change the world forever?
