Entropik Tech, a startup that specialises in facial coding technology to interpret human beings’s emotion as they watch video and different media, raised $8 million in its fresh investment to reinforce its technology and extend its business.

The Bengaluru-based organization raised funds in the round led by Alpha Wave Incubation, a $300-million venture fund, controlled through Falcon Edge Capital and subsidized by ADQ, one of the biggest regional holding agencies based in Abu Dhabi, Ranjan Kumar, founder and chief govt officer of Entropik Tech, informed BloombergQuint over the phone.

Existing investors together with Bharat Innovation Fund, and IDFC Parampara Fund additionally participated. The valuation, he stated, has grown ninefold with the fresh investment to around $40-50 million.

Founded in 2016, the platform makes use of facial coding, brainwave and eye monitoring to interpret the consumers’ unconscious and emotional conduct across numerous touch points for advertising, media testing, audience reaction and for different research and insights across BFSI, media & entertainment, and telecom, and different sectors.

Kumar stated the organization helped businesses including Tata Consumer Ltd. in launching the packaging in their spices and pulses brand, Tata Sampann.

“We helped them increase the uptake of the new product in retails stores by providing insights on pack design, size, and even positioning in the retail stores to boost the demand,” he said.

To assist a brand, the organization makes use of its flagship platform affectlab.io this is embedded with facial coding and eye monitoring technologies, and has a panel of more than 50 million human beings across 110 counties to check the campaigns on the target audience, and offers brands with responses in actual time.

“Brands see up to 75% RoI uplift on marketing spends, 16% improvement in customer drop off rate and 35% improvement in customer satisfaction scores,” he said, adding that the firm has about 17 global patent claims on emotion AI technologies.

With the fresh fundraise, the organization now goals to extend its presence to the U.S., EU, Southeast Asia, and additionally scale to Gulf Cooperation Council, and Middle East and North Africa markets. Part of funding will also go to deepen its AI capabilities, and leverage its modern 26 million emotion session statistics sets to supply predictive offerings, Kumar stated. The organization is eyeing to seize a bigger pie of the $30 billion patron insights industry, he stated.
