YSF Records CEO James Hood AKA JHood YSF is no stranger to building a business. In fact before he was the CEO of a growing Independent Artist Development Label, he was independently operating multiple companies in different industries.

Starting his first official business at the age of 21, by the time he was 29 he had 6 active businesses. A commercial janitorial company, Hot Shot Trucking co, a clothing line, TV installation company, digital marketing service for artist, and last but not least a thriving young record label.

He states that he has had much success but has had just as much failure in the process. Growing several businesses in different industries makes it hard to really focus on just one but having a team allows some leniency to spend a little more time on the music side of his life.

Jhood has had a total of 9 LLCS in the last decade. 3 of them being complete failures the other 6 are growing at a great pace for him and his team. He states as long as he can manage to stay in the black, and keep everyone fed that’s a win. The hardest part of it all was learning to stay down while the business grows. Dealing with hardship and trying to grow a business or businesses isn’t for the weak.

We look forward to seeing the young CEO go far. With his drive and determination there is no doubt that he will accomplish all that he is after.
