Germany-based travel-tech firm FlixBus is making a significant leap into South India, marking its entry into the region with an exciting new service. Beginning on September 10, FlixBus will offer routes from Bengaluru to key South Indian cities, including Chennai and Hyderabad, with plans to extend services to Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirupati, Vijayawada, and Belagavi.
The announcement was made on September 3, when MB Patil, the Minister for Commerce & Industries and Infrastructure for the Government of Karnataka, officially flagged off the new route to Chennai at an event held at Ritz Carlton in Bengaluru. The launch was attended by prominent figures from FlixBus, including Max Zeumer, COO, and Daniel Krauss, Co-founder.
In a nod to its commitment to sustainability and regional development, Patil welcomed FlixBus as both a foreign investor and a partner in Karnataka’s growth.
To celebrate its South Indian debut, FlixBus is offering a promotional fare of just Rs 99 for trips on the new routes. This special rate is available for bookings made between September 3 and September 15, with travel permitted from September 10 to October 6.
Surya Khurana, Managing Director of FlixBus India, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. “Following the success of our operations in North India, venturing into South India is a crucial step in our mission to transform intercity travel,” Khurana said.
FlixBus’s expansion into South India is part of its broader strategy to enhance its network and offer affordable, reliable travel options across the country. The company’s innovative approach and competitive pricing are expected to attract a wide range of passengers looking for convenient and economical travel solutions.
