Alpino, the health-focused food brand that gained widespread attention through its appearance on Shark Tank India, has successfully secured $1.2 million in its inaugural funding round. The investment round saw contributions from notable figures such as Paresh Ghelani and several angel investors affiliated with Aashar Capital. In a major development for the brand, Bollywood actress and wellness advocate Shilpa Shetty has come on board as both a brand ambassador and a key investor.

Shetty expressed her enthusiasm about joining Alpino, highlighting the alignment between the brand’s philosophy and her personal wellness values. “Alpino makes healthy eating fun. Their natural peanut butter has been a staple in my home; my kids love it too. Becoming a part of Alpino felt like a natural fit,” Shetty stated. Her involvement is expected to elevate the brand’s visibility and further cement its presence in the health food sector.

Alpino’s Mission and Product Expansion

Founded in 2016 by a group of six friends—Chetan Kanani, Hiren Sheta, Umesh Gajera, Priyank Vora, Milan Gopani, and Mahatva Sheta—Alpino is dedicated to transforming India into a protein-rich nation without compromising on taste. The brand’s product lineup includes a variety of nutritious options such as peanut butter, super rolled oats, super muesli, and the world’s first peanut protein isolate powder. With ambitious plans to introduce over 20 new products in the next two years, Alpino aims to make healthy eating both accessible and enjoyable for a broader audience.

Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Growth

Alpino’s journey has not been without its hurdles. Last year, the company faced a significant setback when a fire at its Surat warehouse resulted in losses exceeding ₹2 crore and forced a six-month halt in operations. Despite this challenge, Alpino demonstrated remarkable resilience, bouncing back with the launch of “Alpino 2.0” and achieving record-breaking revenues.

The brand has experienced an impressive growth rate of over 150% this year and has positioned itself as a market leader. Alpino is a top seller on major e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart and is available at over 6,000 retail touchpoints across India, including prominent chains such as Reliance, Metro Wholesale, and Nature’s Basket. Additionally, Alpino’s products have expanded their reach to over 10 international markets.

Future Plans and Investor Confidence

The recent $1.2 million funding will be strategically invested to enhance Alpino’s offline presence, drive international expansion, and support ongoing product innovation. The founders have set an ambitious target of becoming a ₹500 crore brand within the next two years.

Chetan Kanani, CEO and co-founder of Alpino Health Foods, expressed his excitement about Shilpa Shetty’s involvement. “Shilpa’s dedication to transforming India’s approach to health and her genuine love for our products make her the ideal face for our brand. Her passion for fitness aligns perfectly with our belief that healthy eating should be fun and not a burden,” Kanani said.

Paresh Ghelani, a board member at the XPRIZE Foundation and a key investor, echoed this sentiment. “Alpino is more than just a brand—it’s a movement towards healthier living. The founders’ passion for creating high-quality, accessible nutrition aligns with my vision of empowering individuals to lead better lives. Together, we can drive a significant shift in how people perceive and consume nutrition,” Ghelani commented.
