Accenture is ramping up its focus on Indian talent, with plans to significantly increase technology hiring in the country. CEO Julie Sweet announced that the company will primarily recruit in India, aiming to refresh its workforce with new college graduates while adhering to its existing talent strategy.
During an investor call, Sweet stated, “We are hiring primarily in India, so a lot of that hiring is technology in India. There’s really no change in our talent strategy.” Currently, over 300,000 of Accenture’s 770,000 global employees are based in India, accounting for approximately 57% of the firm’s workforce.
Accenture operates on a September-August fiscal year. For FY 2025, the company has already made a net addition of 41,484 employees, including over 24,000 in the latest August quarter. Sweet emphasized, “We hire all over the world, but a significant portion of our technology hiring is in India, which is driving our growth as we head into FY 2025.”
Strong Revenue Projections
Accenture is forecasting revenues between $16.8 billion and $17.4 billion for the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year. The company also reported a 5% revenue increase in Q3 compared to the same quarter in FY 2023-24. Notably, in the fourth quarter of FY 2024-25, Accenture secured $1 billion in Generative AI bookings, contributing to a total of $81 billion in new bookings for the full fiscal year. This included a record 125 quarterly client bookings exceeding $100 million, bringing the total number of Diamond clients to 310.
Sweet remarked on Accenture’s commitment to leadership in Generative AI, describing it as “the most transformative technology of the next decade.” She added that the company’s ongoing investments and strategic focus position Accenture for robust growth in fiscal 2025. However, she noted that a significant challenge will be ensuring clients have the necessary data infrastructure to implement Generative AI effectively.
