Amazon India has announced a partnership with Startup India, facilitated by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), aimed at accelerating the growth of startups through e-commerce initiatives. This collaboration will feature a dedicated page on the Startup India portal, enabling eligible startups to leverage e-commerce opportunities by registering on Amazon India’s marketplace.
Startups participating in this initiative will gain access to the domestic market, receive mentorship from Amazon leaders, and benefit from go-to-market support and logistics guidance. “By combining Amazon’s e-commerce expertise with Startup India’s mission as the Government of India’s flagship initiative for startup development, we aim to create a robust platform for Indian startups to scale their businesses domestically,” stated Sanjiv, Joint Secretary of DPIIT.
In addition, Amazon plans to empower selected women entrepreneurs through its Saheli program. Women-led startups will have access to Amazon’s array of services, including Amazon Pay, Amazon Business, AWS, Amazon Advertising, and Mini TV.
The partnership will also focus on promoting awareness of the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) initiative. BHASKAR, part of the Startup India program, is designed to centralize and enhance collaboration among key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, such as startups, investors, mentors, service providers, and government entities.
Launched in January 2016, Startup India is a flagship program of the Indian government aimed at fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for innovation and entrepreneurship across the country.
