Walmart-owned Flipkart, one of India’s leading e-commerce giants and a key competitor to Amazon India, has acquired a majority stake in Pinkvilla, a popular digital infotainment platform. This strategic acquisition aims to deepen Flipkart’s content-driven engagement, particularly targeting Gen Z and millennial audiences.
Pinkvilla is well-known for its entertainment content focused on movies, celebrity culture, and lifestyle trends. These areas significantly influence consumption habits and preferences, especially among younger demographics. By integrating Pinkvilla’s content capabilities and loyal user base, Flipkart plans to expand its content footprint and leverage trend insights to create commerce opportunities aligned with current consumer interests.
Ravi Iyer, Senior Vice President, Corporate at Flipkart, stated that the acquisition represents a critical step in the company’s mission to strengthen connections with Gen Z consumers.
