Larry Page is a businessman and computer scientist who, along with his school friend Sergey Brin, started the world’s largest Google-like search engine in 1998.

Larry Page’s parents, born March 26, 1973 in Michigan, were computer experts. He studied computer engineering from Stanford University. He met Sergey Brin at the same university.

Together, they created a search engine in which all the pages appeared one after the other and they named them Google. Started in 1998, this search engine named “Google” has become the largest and most famous search engine in the world today.

Google’s establishment and expansion – Google Installation

When Larry Page was working on his PhD research project at Stanford in 1995, he met fellow researcher Sergey Brin . By 1996, he had also built a search engine, initially named it ‘BackRub’. For several months, it was also run on Stanford’s servers.

But in September 1998, his project was renamed ‘Google’ and he was made the company.

In 2001, Eric Schmidt was appointed CEO of the company and Page and Brin became president of product and technology, respectively.

In 2004, Google also started a social networking site called Orkut and also started Google desktop search. The same year, Google also put its company’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) in front of people, which led to Page and Brin becoming millionaires.

A branch named google dot org (google.org) was also started to serve the society and to help the society in time.

The year of 2005 proved to be very good for Google. Google Maps, Blogger Mobile, Google Reader and iGoogle were released in 2005 itself. The very next year, Google also bought YouTube and added a feature called Chat to Gmail.

In 2007, Google started working in partnership with China Mobile and Salesforce.com. Google apps were also signed for thousands of children from Kenya and Rwanda who needed Google Apps for free.

In 2011, Larry Page was appointed the new CEO of Google and former CEO Eric Schmidt was appointed executive chairman of the company.

Larry Page has been very close to computers since childhood. Why all the people in his house were educated and the special thing is that both his mother and father also worked in the computer field. He was fond of computers since childhood. Hence, he went on to pursue an engineering degree in computers.

He used to work on some project even when he was studying in college. He thought of making Google search engine during his college days and he was successful in that too but the only difference was that he did not name the search engine at that time.
