In a major move signaling JioHotstar’s ambitions to dominate the digital streaming space, David Zakkam, a seasoned data and analytics expert, has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Head of Analytics & Data Strategy. Zakkam brings over 20 years of experience with global technology giants, including Uber, Meta, Swiggy, and Mu Sigma.


A Career Shaped by Global Tech Leaders

Zakkam’s appointment underscores JioHotstar’s focus on leveraging data-driven insights to enhance content, advertising, and user engagement. At Uber India, he led the Data and Applied Science team, driving growth across rides, delivery, and mobility services while exploring early applications of generative AI.

During his tenure at Meta, Zakkam tackled integrity challenges affecting millions of users, while at Swiggy, he strengthened the company’s data culture and helped expand high-impact decision-making systems.

In an internal announcement, Bharath Ram, Chief Product Officer at JioHotstar, highlighted Zakkam’s role as a bridge across multiple teams, including business, content, marketing, ads, engineering, and product. The aim is to unlock consumer and business value through advanced analytics.
