A New Player in Cybersecurity

Paris-based startup Filigran is making waves in the cybersecurity world after raising an impressive $35 million in a Series B funding round. This comes just a few months after the company secured $16 million in its Series A round, signaling strong investor confidence and growth potential.

What Does Filigran Offer?

Filigran’s flagship product, OpenCTI, is an open-source threat intelligence platform that helps companies and public sector organizations manage and analyze threat data from various sources. Users can enhance their threat data with insights from well-known providers like CrowdStrike and SentinelOne.

The open-source version of OpenCTI has garnered attention from the cybersecurity community, attracting contributions from over 4,300 professionals and achieving millions of downloads. Notable users include the European Commission, the FBI, and the New York City Cyber Command. Filigran also provides an enterprise edition, available as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product or for on-premises hosting, with clients such as Airbus, Marriott, and Hermès.

Expanding the Product Line

Filigran is leveraging its success with OpenCTI to build a comprehensive cybersecurity suite called the eXtended Threat Management (XTM) suite. One of its latest products, OpenBAS, is a beach and attack simulation platform. While OpenCTI and OpenBAS can be used separately, they work better together, providing users with a more comprehensive view of potential cybersecurity risks.

“By 2026, our goal is to offer a complete suite of three complementary products that tackle the complex cybersecurity challenges organizations face today,” says Samuel Hassine, co-founder and CEO of Filigran. The startup is already planning its third product, aiming to further enhance its service offerings.

A Community-Centric Approach

Drawing inspiration from popular platforms like GitHub and Hugging Face, Filigran plans to launch XTM Hub—a collaborative platform for the cybersecurity community. Expected to launch by the end of the year, XTM Hub will serve as a central forum where users can access resources, share expertise, and connect with others in the Filigran ecosystem.

Funding and Future Plans

The Series B round is led by Insight Partners, with participation from existing investors Accel and Moonfire. The funds will not only support product development but also help Filigran expand its geographical footprint. Currently operating in France, the U.S., and Australia, the company has plans to enter markets in Germany, Japan, and Singapore.

The Bigger Picture

Filigran’s rapid rise in the cybersecurity sector reflects a growing need for robust threat management solutions. As cyber threats become more sophisticated, organizations are seeking innovative tools to safeguard their data and operations. With its strong product lineup and community-focused initiatives, Filigran is positioning itself as a key player in the cybersecurity landscape.

Conclusion: A Promising Future

With $35 million in fresh funding and ambitious plans for expansion and product development, Filigran is on the fast track to becoming a major force in cybersecurity. By focusing on community collaboration and comprehensive threat management solutions, the startup is well-equipped to tackle the challenges of modern cybersecurity head-on.
