The web collection Bandish Bandits that become lately launched on Amazon Prime touched the hearts of a worldwide audience with its uncommon storyline and impressive soundtrack.

Starring veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah as Pandit Radhemohan Rathod, Bandish Bandits attracts a stunning comparison between classical and pop track as the love tale of music prodigy, Radhe (Ritwik Bhowmik) and popstar Tamanna (Shreya Chaudhary) unfolds.

The tale takes a dramatic flip while Digvijay Rathod (performed by Atul Kulkarni) marks his access by challenging Pandit Radhe Mohan Rathod to a musical duel. Known for doing strong and competitive roles, Atul Kulkarni surprises his enthusiasts through gambling the function of a soft-hearted artist, Digvijay Rathod.

In an exceptional interview with YSWeekender, Atul Kulkarni spoke about his role in Bandish Bandits, his adventure in the movie industry so far and the way OTT is transforming the entertainment arena.

Marathi movies to Bollywood

Atul has been passionate about performing ever since his first performing stint on level while he become in school. In 1995, he graduated from the National School of Drama (NSD) and were given into theatre.

Atul says that he never intended to make into Bollywood however in the past due 90s, at the same time as he become doing a Marathi play in Mumbai, actor Kamal Haasan noticed his work and supplied him the role in the movie, Hey Ram.

I didn’t have a dramatic entry to Bollywood. Kamal Haasan liked my work in a Marathi play and he offered me a role in Hey Ram. Later, Madhur Bhandarkar saw my work in Hey Ram and signed me for Chandni Bar. This is where my journey began,” says Atul.

OTT vs Box Office: What we need to know

In the last few years, Over-the-Top (OTT) systems have broadly received prominence. With Netflix and Amazon Prime dominating the Indian market, systems like Hotstar, Zee5, Voot, Alt Balaji have left customers spoilt for choice. “If you watch an internet collection like Bandish Bandits, it’s far a sequence of 10 episodes of forty five mins each.

This is about 500 mins of content, not like films which are shorter. The layout of cinema and OTT is absolutely different. Hence, there’s no comparison among the 2 and we should not get confused.”

Over 10 years ago, Atul Kulkarni wrote the script for Aamir Khan’s upcoming film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ which was slated to launch in the course of Christmas. However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the production was delayed and the film might release next year.
