Vutto Raises $7M to Revolutionize How Indians Buy & Sell Used Two-Wheelers

India’s massive two-wheeler market just got a high-powered upgrade. Vutto, a fast-growing re-commerce startup founded in 2024, has raised $7 million in fresh funding to transform the way Indians buy and sell pre-owned two-wheelers.

This round follows Vutto’s earlier $1 million seed funding, which was led by Blume Ventures and joined by a host of notable angels—including founders of Swiggy, Tracxn, OfBusiness, SuprDaily, BatterySmart, and Panthera Peak Capital.

Now, Vutto is shifting into top gear.

What is Vutto?

Founded by Rohit Khurana (ex-Swiggy, Truebil, Shuttl) and Sitaram Ankilla (ex-Shipsy, SuprDaily, Truebil), Vutto is reimagining the used two-wheeler experience in India by offering a fully integrated “phygital” platform—merging the ease of digital shopping with the trust of offline experience.

Whether you’re looking to buy or sell a used scooter or motorcycle, Vutto promises a smooth, transparent, and reliable process backed by its in-house refurbishment and warranty system.

How Vutto Works: A Phygital Experience for Buyers

Here’s what sets Vutto apart in the cluttered used two-wheeler market:

  • Explore online: Customers browse a certified inventory of used two-wheelers on Vutto’s digital platform.
  • Test rides at showrooms: Interested buyers can take real test rides at Vutto’s physical showrooms before committing.
  • As-good-as-new quality: Every two-wheeler comes with a six-month warranty, three free services, and full paperwork support—including RC transfer, financing, and insurance.

This seamless end-to-end service bridges the trust gap that typically haunts the used-vehicle market in India.

Sourcing + Refurbishing = Quality at Scale

Vutto is not just another marketplace—it’s a full-stack operator. Here’s what that means:

  • Direct sourcing: The company acquires used vehicles directly from individuals and businesses, cutting out middlemen.
  • In-house refurbishment: Vehicles are refurbished to meet a defined quality standard, ensuring buyers get high-quality, road-ready machines.
  • Low-cost, high-velocity model: Vutto’s operating system is designed to move vehicles quickly while maintaining low overheads—critical for success in the tight-margin re-commerce industry.

Helping Banks Recover More on Repossessed Two-Wheelers

One of Vutto’s most innovative moves is partnering with banks and financial institutions to create a transparent resale channel for repossessed two-wheelers.

Traditionally, these repossessed vehicles are sold at rock-bottom prices in auctions with little transparency. Vutto offers a better route by:

  • Refurbishing repossessed bikes to high quality
  • Selling them through its platform with full paperwork and warranties
  • Helping banks recover higher value while giving customers better access to trusted used vehicles

It’s a win-win for everyone involved.

The Founders’ Vision

In founder Rohit Khurana’s words:

“Re-commerce is a tough segment to operate in, as it lacks standardization and operates on tighter economics. However, if done right, this can unlock enormous scale. Two-wheeler re-commerce is only doable in India for the sheer size of the market.”

He adds:

“We are taking gradual steps to solve the problems that can help us unlock this massively underserved category. This is a business of building strong fundamentals.”

This grounded, long-term approach is what has made investors confident in backing Vutto’s journey—not once, but twice.

Why the Market is Ripe for Disruption

India has over 200 million two-wheelers on the road, and a large percentage change hands every year. Yet the second-hand two-wheeler market remains highly fragmented, informal, and fraught with trust issues.

From dodgy paperwork to uncertain mechanical condition, buyers often gamble when shopping second-hand. Sellers, on the other hand, struggle to find fair prices or hassle-free resale options.

Vutto is stepping in to solve these problems—at scale.

What’s Next for Vutto?

With this $7 million funding boost, Vutto plans to:

  • Expand to more cities
  • Open more physical showrooms
  • Enhance its refurbishment capabilities
  • Build deeper tech for sourcing, pricing, and logistics
  • Grow its partnerships with banks and NBFCs

As the startup continues to scale, it’s well-positioned to become the go-to brand for used two-wheelers in India—one that combines quality assurance with convenience.

Final Thoughts

Vutto isn’t just digitizing a broken system—it’s redefining how Indians think about second-hand two-wheelers. With a model that’s part tech, part operations, and all about trust, the company is poised to unlock a market that’s been waiting for someone to get it right.

Whether you’re a college student looking for your first bike, a delivery rider upgrading to something reliable, or a bank looking to offload repossessed inventory, Vutto may soon be your first stop.
