Small-Town Supermarket Startup SuperK Just Doubled Its Valuation — And Scored $12M from Binny Bansal-Backed Investors

In a major win for India’s fast-growing retail tech scene, SuperK, the branded retail franchise targeting small towns, has just bagged $12 million in Series B funding — and with it, a whopping 2.4X jump in valuation!

From a $23 million valuation in its Series A, SuperK now boasts a staggering $56 million post-money valuation — a clear signal that investors are betting big on India’s Tier 2 and 3 retail boom.

The round was co-led by 021 Capital (backed by Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal) and the FPGA Family Foundation, with additional fuel from Blume Ventures, Caratlane’s ex-CEO Mithun Sacheti, and even cricketer Shubman Gill. That’s right — SuperK just became the hottest retail startup drawing attention from across sectors!

Regulatory filings show that 7,866 Series B shares were issued at a premium price of Rs 1,29,412 each, bringing in Rs 101.79 crore ($12M). The largest stake now belongs to 021 Capital with 21.84%, followed by Blume Ventures at 16.04%, and founders Neeraj Mehta and Anil Thontepu together still holding strong at 27.6%.

So what’s the big deal with SuperK?

Founded in 2019, SuperK is revolutionizing how small-town India shops — enabling local entrepreneurs to run smart, branded supermarkets powered by data, centralized procurement, and razor-sharp marketing. It’s like a mini D-Mart for every pin code that’s off the metro grid.

With revenues soaring 41% to Rs 84.5 crore in FY24 and losses rising slightly to Rs 30.67 crore, the startup is proving it can scale — and fast. Analysts say its inventory-light, tech-enabled model is what’s attracting serious capital.

And competition? Oh, it’s heating up. SuperK is in the ring with ApnaMart, which recently raised $25 million, and ShopKirana, now scooped up by Udaan. But with this fresh funding and turbo-charged valuation, SuperK is making it clear — this small-town startup is playing a big-league game.
