Yotta Data Services has teamed up with Sarvam AI to create Sarvam-1, India’s very first large open-source language model (LLM) dedicated to Indian languages. This groundbreaking partnership aims to drive innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) while making advanced technologies accessible to Indian businesses.
Sarvam-1 is designed to be a foundational AI tool, trained specifically to understand and generate text in 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, and Bengali, as well as English. This multilingual approach makes Sarvam-1 unique, as it caters directly to the linguistic diversity of India.
The model was trained using Yotta’s Shakti Cloud infrastructure, employing a massive dataset of approximately four trillion tokens. Built on NVIDIA H100 GPUs, Sarvam-1 boasts around two billion parameters, ensuring that it delivers fast and efficient language processing.
The collaboration focuses on making AI practical and accessible for local industries, thereby reducing reliance on foreign cloud services. This move not only fosters innovation but also strengthens India’s data sovereignty.
Sarvam AI has already launched a suite of AI-powered tools called Sarvam Agents. These tools facilitate natural, voice-based conversations across platforms like phone and WhatsApp, providing essential services such as customer support and employee engagement.
Available in all 10 supported Indian languages, Sarvam Agents empower businesses to communicate effectively with their customers in their preferred languages. This is crucial in a country as linguistically diverse as India, enhancing user engagement and satisfaction.
Yotta’s Shakti Cloud, equipped with NVIDIA’s advanced technology, allows Sarvam-1 to process large datasets quickly and accurately. The integration of NVIDIA Hopper GPUs and AI Enterprise software means Sarvam-1 can achieve inference speeds that are four to six times faster than similar models available internationally. This performance is key for businesses seeking reliable and scalable AI solutions.
The partnership between Yotta Data Services and Sarvam AI marks a significant step in advancing India’s AI landscape.
