Poolside, the innovative AI-driven software development platform, has just scored a remarkable $500 million in its latest funding round, bringing its total capital raised to a staggering $626 million and its valuation to an impressive $3 billion! This Series B round was led by Bain Capital Ventures, with big names like eBay and Nvidia joining in, showcasing the excitement around AI in the coding space.

Founded just last year by former GitHub CTO Jason Warner and seasoned entrepreneur Eiso Kant, Poolside is making waves in the world of AI-assisted coding. Warner, who played a key role in developing GitHub’s AI Copilot, teamed up with Kant, a co-founder of several tech startups, to create a suite of tools designed to help developers code more efficiently.

So, what does Poolside actually do? The platform harnesses its own AI models to assist developers by autocompleting code and suggesting contextually relevant snippets—similar to what other coding tools offer but with its unique twist. Poolside primarily caters to Global 2000 companies and public sector agencies, although many of its clients remain under wraps.

With this fresh capital, Poolside is gearing up to enhance its research and development capabilities, bringing an impressive 10,000 Nvidia GPUs online to train its future models. This investment comes at a time when developers are eagerly embracing AI tools, with GitHub reporting over 1.8 million paying users for its Copilot feature alone.

The momentum around AI in coding is palpable, as venture capitalists are pouring funds into startups in this space. Just this summer, Magic raised $320 million, while competitors like Codeium and Cognition secured $150 million and $175 million, respectively. Analysts predict that the AI coding tools market could balloon to $27 billion by 2032—definitely a figure that’s catching everyone’s attention!

Poolside’s journey is just beginning, and with this significant backing, it’s clear they’re on a path to reshape how developers work.
