Wipro Ltd announced on August 30 that Srikumar Rao will take over as the global head of its Engineering Edge business line, starting October 5, 2024. Rao succeeds Harmeet Chauhan, who is leaving to explore new opportunities. Rao, who has been with Wipro for 26 years, previously served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Wipro Engineering Edge (WEE) and the Global Practice Head of Embedded Systems.
In his new role, Rao will be responsible for advancing Wipro’s engineering capabilities and defining the vision and growth strategy for the company’s Engineering, Research, and Development (ER&D) Services. His focus will include enhancing Wipro’s AI-driven products and solutions.
Srini Pallia, CEO and Managing Director of Wipro, praised Rao’s extensive experience and leadership, noting his journey from a campus recruit to a senior leader within the company as a testament to his dedication and expertise.
Rao expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, emphasizing his commitment to expanding Wipro’s market presence and enhancing client value. He is also a member of NASSCOM’s ER&D Executive Council and holds degrees from the College of Engineering Pune and IIM Bangalore.
Wipro’s shares closed at ₹538.20 on the BSE, marking a slight decline of ₹0.40 or 0.074%.
