SpaceX raised $1.9 billion in new funding and also progressing on its Starlink spacecraft development program

The Elon Musk company has been seeking funding since this year. According to the Bloomberg report – last week thus company increased the size of the investment, and seemed owing to strong demand from investment community.

This company has raised $1.9 billion in new funding. It was spotted by Reuters while filing with the SEC on Tuesday. The company got reported by Bloomberg to be in the funding process earlier. This pegged the post-money valuation of SpaceX at $46 billion, following this raise.

Till, now there isn’t much information available about the participants of the round.

Bloomberg’s report said – “Fidelity Investments was among the largest in, but they did not confirm.”

SpaceX can be positioned better to seek resources from investors, and even high-profile successes has been recorded recently.

All these include completing of the first private human spaceflight mission, and which taked off from U.S. soil. That mission was taken off from Florida in May and returned back to Earth earlier this month. While the astronauts carried after a two-month stint at the International Space Station. Its completion means SpaceX can on regular basis supply transportation services to and from the ISS. Even can put them closer for offering commercial spaceflight services for researchers, private tourists and more.

SpaceX also made progress on its Starlink spacecraft development program. They are successful in a short test flight of the prototype this month. It even won multiple multi-year contracts from NASA.

Currently, its in the process of a capital-intensive endeavor. This can explain the size of the round: deploying the massive satellite constellation, which the company will own and operate. Further, it will provide commercial and residential broadband internet services to customers, after getting active. Today this morning, SpaceX launched 58 more Starlink satellites. Though, they need to launch more to achieve their goal of global coverage.
