One of the popular ecommerce Snapdeal had included eight logistics centres into its network across manufacturing hubs, including Mathura, Noida, and Mumbai, ahead of the festive season. This expansion is part of a decentralised network, which is designed by Snapdeal.
Its centres are situated within the commercial hubs inside a city to enable faster pickup of packets from the sellers, according to a statement. For, them it has become more important because of the COVID-19 related restrictions, which has reduced the operating hours in many parts of the country.
The new centres which are located inside the manufacturing hubs are at Bahadurgarh, Yamuna Nagar (Haryana), Rajkot (Gujarat), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra), Agra, Noida, Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) and Mumbai,”. A statement further added.
As , per the Snapdeal the new centres are a part of pre-Diwali increase in capacity to get to the festive spike in volumes. The company did not revealed details of the investment made for the expansion.
All these centres will cater to manufacturers and sellers of furnishing and decor items like curtains, lights, kitchenware, bedsheets and apparel, including ethnic wear and sarees. All these items are highly anticipated to witness high festive sales volumes due to an expansion in the number of Indians preferring to buy online for more convenience and safety reasons,” As per the statement.
“The additional logistics capacity comes ahead of the festive season sale when the volume of orders is higher. The new centres make the fulfilment process simpler for the manufacturer-sellers so that they can devote all their resources towards production,” one of a Snapdeal spokesperson said.
For, this year Snapdeal aim is to add 5,000 manufacturer-sellers on its platform. Snapdeal, competes with other major e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, said 75,000 sellers joined the platform in the last 18 months, and nearly 10,000 during the current pandemic time. About 85 percent of Snapdeal’s users are from the non-metro cities.
